2012년 개관한 갤러리 세솜은 컬렉터와 작가, 그리고 갤러리라는 세 개의 매개체가 서로 활발한 교류를 하는 공간이 되기 위한 목적으로 문을 열었습니다. 이에 대한 첫걸음으로 현대미술의 새로운 국면을 보여주는 안영일, 김동유, Moshe' Elimelech 등 지역에 한정 지은 전시가 아닌 한국 현대미술의 흐름을 담아내는 다양한 작가들을 초대한 기획전시를 하였습니다. 이들 중에 안영일, 오천룡 등은 국외에서 활동하는 한국 작가들의 개인전을 개최하면서 새로이 재조명하는 역할로도 큰 기대와 호평을 받았습니다. 또한 해외 유수 갤러리들과의 교류 및 한국 국제 아트페어(KIAF ART SEOUL)와 같은 각종 국제아트페어의 참가, CHRISTIE's, Sotheby's 등 국내.외 유명 옥션의 참여를 통해 자신의 작품을 치열하게 탐구하는 실력 있는 작가들을 대상으로 해외 진출 기회를 확대함은 물론 꾸준한 전시를 기획하면서 그들과 관람객, 그리고 컬렉터들 에게도 다양한 기회를 마련하는 장이 되고자 앞으로도 꾸준히 노력할 것입니다. 또한 세계적으로 유명한 외국 작가들을 한국에 소개하기 위한 노력을 꾸준히 하고 있으며, 더불어 관람객의 문화예술에 대한 시각을 확장하고자 하는 바입니다.
‘Galley Sesom’ opened its gate in 2012 in a bid to promote active exchange and
communication among six major players in art market, including collectors, artists and
gallery. As part of this effort, the gallery is hosting a special exhibition by inviting a
variety of artists to reflect the flow of Korean modern fine arts. In addition, the gallery
sustains its effort to introduce prestigious foreign artists with global presence to Korea.
Galley Sesom has hosted a series of exhibitions with neither borders nor boundaries to
show various aspects in the world of fine arts among. In addition, the gallery is
attracting high expectations and praises as it has invited artists with new and innovative
perspectives.
Through these exhibitions, we seek to provide a variety of opportunities not only for
promising artists but also for their spectators and collectors as well. We are aiming to
provide a place of active exchanges as well as a stage for artists while participating in a
variety of art fairs. We expect a sustainable growth of the gallery as it plans and hosts
a variety of programs.
